On June 5, 1991, the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-96 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. The game featured one of the most memorable moments of Michael Jordan’s career, which is no small statement.
His Airness switched hands midair on this layup, which takes an absurd amount of body control and confidence, both of which MJ had in spades.
Jordan has no shortage of legendary moments—”The Shot” over Craig Ehlo, his final shot against the Jazz in the 1998 Finals and his starring role in Space Jam, to name a few—but this might top them all.
Not only was it a part of the first of Jordan’s six title runs (which shattered perceptions about him among fans and the media in a way similar to LeBron James’ first title in 2012), but it capped off a run of 13 consecutive made baskets for MJ in that game.
Are you excited for the Finals yet?
