The Mets aren’t the only team that can provide an embarrassing video clip.
With the White Sox leading 4-3 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning of their home game tonight against the Mets, Sox closer Addison Reed induced a high, infield pop fly. White Sox fans breathed a sigh of relief, and waited for the game to end.
Then, madness.
Second baseman Gordon Beckham came charging in and tripped, dropping the ball and taking out third baseman Conor Gillaspie. The ball rolled off, and the Mets’ David Wright, who had been on second base, came around to score. The game was tied 4-4, and Gordon Beckham could do nothing but look sad.
