ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- For the first time since the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission issued a complaint against Wayne County Circuit Judge Wade McCree, .
McCree, who has been suspended from his job without pay and accused of misconduct in office, on Tuesday described his affair with Geniene La'Shay Mott. She was a complaining witness in a nonpayment of child support case before him and the two carried on a relationship for several months, he said.
"I confess she was an attractive, striking woman, and she caught my eye," McCree testified Tuesday during a misconduct hearing in Washtenaw County Circuit Court. "I lusted after this woman."
She called the court a few times, and they made plans to go to lunch about a week later, he testified.
"We hit it off," he said. "She loved sports and knew sports."
McCree said their relationship "blossomed" from chatter, and they became intimate.
But it wasn't always great, he said, describing their relationship "volatile" but also "passionate."
McCree said he was going through a difficult point in his life, recently losing his sister and mother, and things weren't as he wanted in his marriage.
"I was lonely," he said.
McCree said Mott threatened to reveal their relationship to his wife of more than 20 years.
