Trish Staine had just completed a two-hour training run in advance of “Grandma’s” half marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, when she started experiencing back pain for the strangest of reasons. Staine, a 33-year-old athlete, figured her aches were a result of the run. Two days later, Staine gave birth to a 6-pound, 6-ounce baby girl.
Staine had no idea she was pregnant — her husband John had undergone a vasectomy. She went to the hospital to have her back pain checked out, but doctors discovered a fetal heartbeat after performing a few tests.
