The SEC may spend millions so you can check Twitter during games

All is not perfect in SEC country. Yes, the product has never been better. Yes, the league dominates all comers in the FBS, and in January in particular. Yes, Nick Saban is still the coach at Alabama – for now.
But attendance is down: SEC football’s overall attendance has dipped in each of the last four seasons, dropping from an average of 76,884 fans per game in 2008 to 75,538 per game a year ago. Thanks a bunch, Kentucky.
In all, while the SEC led the FBS in average attendance for the 15th year in a row, nine of the league’s 14 teams suffered a decline in attendance in 2012. So how does the nation’s juggernaut hope to fix this troubling decline?
There’s addressing the cupcake-laden schedule, showing full-scale video replays inside the stadium, limiting student-ticket allotment and dealing with the secondary-ticket market, for starters. And then there’s this: the SEC’s Working Group on Fan Experience has recommended the league fix the spotty phone service and WiFi found in most SEC stadiums.
