The swimming star had been in a four-year relationship with Brit Jamiee Hollier, but the couple was having trouble recently, according to past episodes. The distance gap didn’t help, nor did the fact that an earlier episode of WWRLD? exclusively focused on Lochte hitting on younger women. The 90-second breakup segment tried to tug on the heartstrings, but when it came during an episode that featured a five-minute segment on paintballing, it was hard to summon the emotions. Here’s how it went down:

1. Lochte gets a call from Jaimee while he’s at dinner with his brah-tourage. He looks confused when the phone rings, perhaps because he’s afraid his relationship is about to end, perhaps because he can’t remember how to answer calls on his new iPhone.

2. It took seven episodes, but Lochte finally found something he wasn’t willing to do on camera.

3. Lochte looks sad. We hear in a voiceover that Jaimee dumped him. Props for admitting he got dumped instead of acting like it was a mutual decision. Then again, in the world of Lochte, he probably thinks getting dumped makes him vulnerable and will help him play the sympathy angle with other women. To that end, he’s really milking this whole thing with that puppy dog expression. He should pop on those sunglasses at night so he can see the light right before his eyes. That’s what they’re for.

4. Lochte breaks the news to his friends, who seem so unsurprised that they either figuratively saw this coming or literally saw this coming because it was the fourth take.

5. Lochte is upset. You can tell he’s upset because of the pensive looks and pained sips of beer. I fear he’ll be in a rut for weeks, if not months.

7. He’s back, ladies.
